Three Threads is an invitation to pause and deepen into the fullness of our human experience with art as our guide.

A couple of years ago I found myself growing frustrated (and exhausted) at how siloed the most important areas of my life felt. There was the part focused on creativity–my own artwork and writing. There was the spiritual part, the part that longed to deepen my connection to the sacred, that thing/energy/WTF-ness that is larger than me. And then there’s the social justice aspect, which I’ve come to understand as working towards true inclusion, a belief that we can only experience the fullness of our human experience by being open to the fullness of others.

I grew tired of trying to juggle these three threads, so I decided instead to see if I could merge them together. But what would that look like? Could I do this with joy, embracing the inherent challenges? I decided to dedicate 2024 to this inquiry. My journey included getting a certificate in spiritual direction to complement my masters degree in theological studies in world religion and another certificate in psychedelic-assisted therapy. The tapestry I’m working to weave is a life that involves honest, authentic, and deeply meaningful connection to one’s self, one’s community, and to the sacred, however one defines that. It’s the work I’m endeavoring to do for myself and the work I’m most interested in doing with others.

So, the Three Threads project was born, a free monthly newsletter featuring a different work of art, a brief reflection about why I chose it, and a simple prompt to deepen into your own life and creativity. If you’d like this inspiration more frequently, scroll down for more information.

I’m hoping Three Threads will provide the kind of regenerative, creative pause many of us are missing in our lives.

I hope you join me on this new adventure!
